Carnival Plans to Send More Ships to Alaska
Good news for Southeast Alaska tourism. Carnival plans to increase the amount of ships it will send to Alaska in 2021. With this announcement, Carnival joins a growing list of cruise lines that will move additional ships to Alaska beginning as early as next year.
Carnival Freedom will reposition from Galveston to Seattle to begin April 2021 its week-long Inside Passage Glacier Route cruises. Soon after on the move will be Carnival Miracle, with 10- and 11-day Alaska cruises from San Francisco that begin in May 2021.

Carnival Freedom Alaska Cruises from Seattle
Carnival Freedom will offer 21 Alaska cruises that depart every Tuesday from the Port of Seattle from April 27 to Sept. 22, 2021. During the 7-night Glacier Route cruises, port calls include Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, scenic cruising of multi-glacier Tracy Arm Fjord plus a required foreign port stop at Victoria, B.C. There’s also an special eight-day cruise featuring the same ports of Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Victoria and cruising Tracy Arm Fjord plus the additional stop at Icy Strait Point.
Freshly refurbished this year, the 2,980-passenger Carnival Freedom offers a wide range of onboard amenities, including their popular dining venues like Bonsai Sushi Express and Guy’s Burger Joint to an elegant reservations-only steakhouse. Carnival Freedom also sports a luxurious spa and a expanded WaterWorks aqua park. There are hundreds of balcony staterooms and suites – great for glacier and wildlife viewing as well as staying warmer than on deck.

For the move to Seattle, Carnival Freedom has a 17-day Carnival Journeys Panama Canal cruise from Galveston to Seattle April 10-27, 2021. Ports include Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico. After a summer in Alaska, Carnival Freedom does a turnaround and repositions from Seattle to Fort Lauderdale with another 17-day Carnival Journeys Panama Canal sailing Sept. 22-Oct. 9, 2021, visiting Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico. Once back in Florida, Carnival Freedom will have a winter schedule of six- and eight-day eastern and southern Caribbean cruises that begin on Oct. 9, 2021.
Carnival Miracle Alaska Cruises – Short and Long
Carnival Miracle will begin Carnival’s first-ever cruises from San Francisco in March 2020. Then in 2021, the ship will return to San Francisco for a summer schedule of 10- and 11-day Alaska cruises. Ten-day cruises will visit Juneau, Skagway, and Icy Strait Point or Ketchikan, Victoria, and scenic cruising of Tracy Arm. The 11-day cruises include both Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan. The ship will also offer a series of 16-day Carnival Journeys Hawaii cruises.
Looking even further ahead, Carnival Miracle will return to San Diego in 2021-22 with two- to six-day cruises heading to destinations in Mexico and Baja California, including Ensenada, Catalina Island, and Cabo San Lucas. More longer Carnival Journeys special cruises of 15-days will head to Hawaii. Carnival Miracle’s San Diego-based schedule runs from Oct. 3, 2021 to April 18, 2022.
