Royal Caribbean Drink Packages Explained
Whether or not to purchase an all-inclusive beverage package can be a bit tricky. All Royal Caribbean beverage packages have rules of course, especially about sharing. Their rules require that if one person in a stateroom purchases a beverage package, then BOTH must purchase a beverage package.
All-Inclusive Beverage Packages
Considering that the prices are per diem, beverage packages can get quite expensive. What if the second person in the stateroom doesn’t drink alcohol? There are some exceptions to the rule, usually found in the fine print.
When only one person, aged 21 or older, purchases an alcoholic beverage package, if the traveling companion (2nd person in the stateroom also over 21) does not choose to or like to drink alcohol, they will have the option to choose a non-alcoholic refreshment package.
Packages include:
- Teas
- Bottled water
- Freshly squeezed juice
- Mocktails
- Soft drinks
There are a few exceptions to the rule that requires both guests in the stateroom to purchase a beverage package if only one person wants to buy it.
- Pregnancy
- AA member
- Documented medical reasons
What if a parent and child are traveling together and the parent wants to purchase a beverage package? The minor does not have to purchase any all-inclusive beverage package.
Discounts are available
I highly suggest to purchase your beverage package (and WiFi, too) before departure. Discounts are usually offered if you buy before you sail.
Purchase an all-inclusive beverage package mid-way through your cruise and the price is prorated based on the date of purchase. But, there must be at least four days remaining on your cruise.
Beverage packages can be used at any bars or lounges, in the Windjammer Cafรฉ and Main Dining Room. You can also use the package at CocoCay and Labadee. In addition, room service and the minibar are not included.

While I’ve never known of anyone being “punished”, keep in mind that all Royal Caribbean “beverage packages are for single guest use and cannot be shared by multiple people” according to their website.
And remember, when you check-in on their website, check out the prices if you purchase before you go.
