Two more Carnival ships score 100 on public health inspection

Two Carnival ships – Carnival Freedom and Carnival Imagination – have earned 100 scores on their United States Public Health (USPH) inspections. Carnival Freedom and Carnival Imagination are the seventh and eighth latest Carnival ships, respectively, to earn perfect USPH scores, joining the Carnival Glory which earned a 100 score on a Health Canada inspection last week.

Carnival Freedom and Carnival Imagination each received 100 scores on all 42 items that comprise the U.S. Public Health Service’s comprehensive Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) checklist. The unannounced inspections, which are conducted twice a year and required for any cruise ship with an international itinerary calling at a U.S. port, evaluate vessels in a variety of areas, including adherence to proper food handling, preparation and storage procedures, and overall galley cleanliness. Ships’ potable water supplies used in spas and pools are also evaluated.

The 2,974-passenger Carnival Freedom sails from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., year-round on six- and eight-day cruises to the Caribbean, while the 2,052-passenger Carnival Imagination offers three-day voyages to The Bahamas and four-day departures to the western Caribbean from Miami.
