AmaWaterways AmaMagna – Double-Wide European River Ship for Danube

AmaWaterways announced it will build its biggest ship ever and revealed plans for AmaMagna, to be launched in 2019.

AmaMagna will be twice the width of all the other European river ships. While going wider, AmaMagna will be able to accommodate 194 passengers with much larger staterooms than traditional river ships in Europe. Multiple dining options will include an al fresco glass-enclosed restaurant, additional onboard activities and enhanced evening entertainment.

AmaMagna will be fitted with a quieter and more fuel-efficient engine. An open-water sports platform with zodiac boats, canoes and recreational equipment is in the plans, too. Construction for the new river ship specifically designed for Danube river cruising, began March 6, 2017.

Of the 97 staterooms, the majority will be over 300 square feet. Additional amenities include a large heated sundeck swimming pool with whirlpool and sky bar, a spacious spa area with new treatments, a fitness room large enough for small group classes and generous common areas designed to accommodate a variety of onboard events. One new feature is that the elevator will be able to reach the sundeck, something not found on almost all other river cruise ships.

Along with AmaMagna, another traditional-size river ship named AmaMora, is scheduled to launch in 2019 and cruise the Rhine river.
