New Silversea Photography Academy on Antarctica Cruises
The new Silversea photography academy is now offered aboard their expedition ship, Silver Cloud, on cruises to Antarctica. Named My Photo Academy, it’s a chance for guests to perfect their photography skills.
Guests will be able to learn how to take and edit pictures on itineraries specially designed to maximize expedition time and the chance to capture Antartica’s amazing beauty.
Silversea Adds Photography Academy to Expedition Ships
With a choice of either private or group lessons, guests can choose from several topics that range from an introduction to photography, social media and how to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop photo editing tools.

The Photo Studio
Designed and implemented in collaboration with Galardi Media Network, a Swiss company specializing in new technologies and multimedia, the Silversea Photography Academy photo studio features both MACs and PCs. Photo printers are available for use on a fee basis for guests to create postcards or take home ready to frame photos.
With the guidance of a professional photo manager, guests have access to:
- Six HP Envy 27-inch, all-in-one desktop computers
- Six iMac 27-inch, all-in-one desktop computers
- Four Loupedeck photo-editing consoles for Adobe Lightroom
- Two DNP dye sublimation photo printers
- Two Epson inkjet plotters
- Custom workshop management software
- Three Samsung 55-inch screens with 4K picture quality
- One Samsung 65-inch screen with 4K picture quality
For more intensive learning, guests can schedule a 20-minute, one-on-one appointment with a photo-editing expert for help with choosing and using cameras, understanding the camera menu options and help with posting on Facebook and Instagram.
About the ship
The intimate Silver Cloud accommodates only 200 guests in polar waters. A fleet of 16 Zodiacs provides opportunity for up-close exploration, plus there are 10 kayaks for a more personalized experience. At least 20 dedicated Expedition Team members are available to share their considerable knowledge and insights. Expedition voyages to Antarctica are offered from November through February.
