Azamara Adds World Wildlife Fund Voyages and Shore Tours
Azamara announced an expanded partnership with the World Wildlife Fund in South Africa, including brand new conservation-themed itineraries for their People to Planet Excursions and People to Planet Voyages. These innovative itineraries will launch in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
This new partnership is an exciting opportunity for guests to learn more about conservation initiatives in South Africa through in-depth itineraries and long, deeply immersive shore excursions.
In addition, Azamara is donating $100,000 from all People to Planet Voyages and $30 from every purchase of a People to People Excursion ticket to help fund WWFโs ongoing conservation work in South Africa. This money will go towards sustainable initiatives throughout the country, such as combating the illegal wildlife trade and protecting vulnerable endangered rhino populations.
People to Planet Excursions
Set to launch in fall 2020, these new excursions will provide an intimate glimpse into South African culture and cuisine while highlighting local World Wildlife Fund South Africa work and initiatives.
Shore excursions will range from the WWF Sustainable Seafood Initiative in Cape Town, where guests can learn more about sustainable agriculture through a local farm tour and enjoy meals prepared by Chef Christian Campbell, to the Addo Elephant Park by 4×4 in Port Elizabeth, where guests will embark on an exciting off-road 4×4 journey to visit the parkโs 450 elephants.
In addition, People to Planet Excursions will include the option for a two-night overnight stay at Phinda Mountain Lodge, where guests have the opportunity to track the highly endangered black rhino with trained experts.
People to Planet Voyages
When it comes to the six conservation-themed itineraries with People to Planet Voyages, set to launch in 2021, guests can attend frequent onboard programming with World Wildlife Fund experts and researchers. The itineraries are packed with onboard activities including a Chefโs table with five authentic and flavorful South African dishes as well as fun-filled WWF trivia nights.
This partnership between Azamara and World Wildlife Fund South Africa is a great opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in a new culture and learn more about the natural world around them, all while developing environmental awareness and conscientious sustainable practices.
