Hi Gail, Thank you for pointing out my “senior moment”. I’ve corrected the blip. Viking’s Grand European Tour is a fabulous itinerary. Hi Lori,
Thank you so much for reading my latest article about Viking river cruises. You’re right…they don’t have dedicated solo staterooms or tons of solo deals. Occasionally, they will offer a reduced single supplement, usually during early spring or late fall or sometimes on a last-minute deal. Also, an Amsterdam/Basel or reverse itinerary might have special deals in the off-season, too. I would either keep checking their website or if you have a travel agent, she or he can keep it on their radar. I’ll be writing more articles about solo travel, so please check back. As a solo traveler myself I have found that Viking is the least likely of all the river cruise lines to offer a reduced or zero $ single supplement. I do want to try Viking however, and compare it to the other 3 river cruise lines I have tried, all of whom offer reduced rates to solo travelers. Do you have a recommendation as to how to obtain a reduced fare with Viking? Is there a time of year or certain itinerary where they offer reductions in fare? Thank you!
