Norwegian Cruise Line Christens Its Newest Ship, Norwegian Encore
On a balmy Thursday night at PortMiami, Norwegian Cruise Line christened their newest ship, Norwegian Encore.
Norwegian Encore is the 17th ship for Norwegian Cruise Line and fourth in the line’s Breakaway Plus class ship. This is the largest ship in their fleet and features the world’s longest race track at sea with over 1,000-feet of track.
The Norwegian Encore Speedway (that’s the name) two-story race course located on Deck 18 has four high-speed curves that extend up to 13 feet over the side of the ship. The all-electric Go-Karts can reach speeds up to 30mph and the track can accommodate up to 10 racers at one time.
You’ll also find the largest outdoor laser tag in nearly 10,000 square feet over at the Galaxy Pavilion, also at the top of the ship. For more heart-pounding fun, Galaxy Pavilion also has an immersive escape room and interactive virtual experiences.

Norwegian Encore Christened
An American Idol winner 17 years ago, Kelly Clarkson was the ship’s godmother and had the honor to christen the new ship. It was up to her to release the champagne bottle that smashed against the bow of the ship. All went as planned.
Before the big event, invitation-only guests were entertained by the ship’s featured performers, Choir of Man and excerpts from the main production show, Tony award-winning show, Kinky Boots. After Norwegian Encore was christened, Clarkson entertained guests with several of her popular songs.
Sister ship to Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Encore can accommodate up to 3,998 guests based on double occupancy. Dining options exceed 20 different restaurants, some with outdoor seating that overlooks the sea.
After a three-night preview cruise, on November 24 Norwegian Encore will begin cruising seven-night eastern Caribbean itineraries through April 2020. The ship will then head to New York for the summer before returning to Miami for fall and winter western Caribbean cruises. In spring 2021, Norwegian Encore will transit the Panama Canal to reach Alaska for Inside Passage cruises through the summer. The Alaska cruises will be round-trip from Seattle and visit the ports of Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, cruise Glacier Bay, and and evening call at Victoria in British Columbia.
