Emerald Waterways New Onboard Activities and Programs
As Emerald Waterways continues to expand their lineup of activities ashore, they are also focusing on the onboard experience for their guests. A series of new programs will be launching this year and next, including yoga classes, smartphone photography workshops, and an exclusive dinner with a local celebrity chef.
Smartphone Photography
Sometimes taking impressive photos from a trip is easier said than done. Aboard the October 14 Sensations of Southern France cruise, guests will have the chance to learn how to use their smartphones to take sharper, more captivating photos with one of the industry’s best – Jack Hollingsworth. He is a recognized name in travel and lifestyle photography, especially when it comes to using a smartphone’s camera. During the sailing, Hollingsworth will lead workshops showing even newbie smartphone users his tricks of the trade, and offer hands-on help for capturing the best shots.
Yoga Classes
A river cruise is meant to be relaxing, and Emerald is making sure that will happen aboard their Douro River cruises in Portugal. As part of the growing EmeraldACTIVE program, yoga classes will be offered on the large sun deck, which boasts beautiful views of the river and dramatically sloped valley during all Douro sailings.
Dine with a Celebrity Chef
France has long been known for their delicious food and outstanding chefs. Guests aboard the Sensations of Southern France sailing can also get a taste of one of Avignon’s best during a Provençal style dinner cooked by Top Chef France finalist Fabien Morreale. Chef Morreale hails from Martigues, a coastal town near Marseille where he owns two restaurants: La Garage and Le Gusto Caffé. He made it to the final four on Top Chef France, and is dedicated to using the freshest local ingredients in his cuisine. While docked in Avignon, he will come aboard to cook a four-course meal exclusively for Emerald’s guests.
Another popular amenity aboard Emerald Waterways ships is a heated swimming pool. Located on the ship’s aft, the pool area features a retractable roof, spa atmosphere, and fully-stocked bar. On select evenings, the area transforms into a cinema showing classic films and recent releases, complete with popcorn and drinks.
