Congratulations on your upcoming milestone Anniversary! And thank you for reading my article and taking the time to write. In my opinion, I think you will have a wonderful celebratory cruise. Be sure to let the maitre d’ know (or the dining room manager if you’re in a specialty restaurant) that it’s your anniversary. You can also (or ask your travel agent) to add your anniversary into your booking record, usually found under “special occasions.”

Hi Karilyn,

Holland America and other cruise lines of course try to be on schedule. Delays can be costly. Nothing is ever written in stone – there can be mechanical delays, severe weather/wind issues and even medical evacuations. I hope everything works out so you can meet your timeline in port.

We’ve cruised with HAL 4 times, and don’t even really consider other lines. Our preference is for the smaller ships and better staff-to-guest ratios. We’re also not interested in skating, rock climbing or playing miniature golf on a cruise; we like what HAL has to offer on board. One of our indulgences is to enjoy breakfast in our suite every morning. SO nice to have your meal and hot, fresh coffee delivered to your room, allowing you to partake at a leisurely pace while enjoying the view outside. We’ve also been very impressed with the crew’s obviously genuine desire for us to have an enjoyable cruise–outstanding service every time!
