As maritime tradition goes, when a ship is completed, the ship builder then delivers the new vessel to the owner. In this case, ship builder STX France joined top executives from Royal Caribbean for the celebration aboard the new ship in Saint Nazaire, France.

Harmony of the Seas is the 25th ship in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. With a crew of 2,100 and up to 5,479 passengers, the new ship features a list of cruise ship “firsts” including:

  • The Ultimate Abyss, with a 100-foot drop, it’s the tallest slide at sea.
  • Broadway’s smash hit “Grease” in the Royal Theater
  • 23 swimming pools, whirlpool, two FlowRider surf simulators plus three waterslides and a kids-only waterpark
  • Voom, the fastest internet at sea.

Harmony of the Seas will homeport in Barcelona for a series of 34 seven-night cruises in the western Mediterranean. After a transatlantic crossing in November 2016 from Barcelona, the Harmony of the Seas will move to a new homeport in Ft. Lauderdale. From there, the ship will offer seven-night cruises alternating eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.
