If anyone knows how to make a grand entrance, it’s Disney Cruise Line. The family-friendly cruise line will unveil their third Wish-class ship – Disney Destiny – in an unforgettable style, just under a week from now.

The special three-day reveal event will begin on July 30, 2024, ending on August 1, 2024. It will celebrate the “heroes vs. villains” theme inspired by the 4,000-passenger vessel.

“There are two sides to every story. The magic happens where the two meet. Where heroes meet villains—and that’s aboard the all-new Disney Destiny. Here, magic and mischief collide for a celebration of bold heroes and villains from beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel films, and classic Disney Park attractions,” the cruise line announced in an email blast.

While each Disney vessel receives a unique theme, Disney Destiny will immerse guests in the adventure and lore of Walt Disney’s most beloved heroes and infamous villains, helping every passenger discover their own inner hero.

The full schedule of events is not yet available, but festivities will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The entire event will also be streamed virtually on the Disney Parks Blog.

Each day, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) will reveal new ways classic Disney characters and stories will come to life on this highly anticipated ship.

Currently, the 144,000 gross-ton vessel is in the early stages of construction at Germany’s Meyer Werft Shipyard, set to debut in March 2024. This event is the first opportunity DCL has had to introduce Disney Destiny, the future sister ship of Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, which is scheduled to start sailing at the end of 2025.

Interestingly, Disney Treasure, set to begin service in December 2024, was floated early within the shipyard to make room for Disney Destiny in dry dock by the end of March 2024, allowing the new ship’s construction to commence.

Bookings For Disney Destiny’s Inaugural Season Launching Soon

Cruisers eager to be among the first aboard Disney Destiny can soon secure their reservations. Bookings will open to the general public on August 9, 2024, preceded by an early booking opportunity for members of Disney’s Castaway Club.

The Castaway Club is Disney’s tiered loyalty program that rewards guests as they embark on more sailings. All guests are automatically enrolled after their first voyage, with perks increasing based on the number of Disney cruises taken.

However, DCL fans can’t start planning just yet. The itineraries for the 1,555-crew vessel have not been revealed but will likely be shared during the three-day “Heroes and Villains” event.

Neither the date nor the itinerary of the new cruise ship’s maiden voyage has been announced, though the ship’s delivery date is set for December 2025, suggesting the inaugural sailing will occur around that time.

While not confirmed by the cruise line, early tracking suggests that the ship is slated to homeport in Florida’s PortMiami initially, from where she’ll operate roundtrip cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

We’ll likely know soon if these sailings are fact or fiction, giving plenty of time to arrange travel plans when bookings open.
