Oceania Cruises has announced that they will discontinue the use of plastic water bottles on all of their ships. The cruise line, in partnership with Vero Water, will eliminate nearly three million plastic bottles per year. This new sustainability effort begins in April 2019.

Oceania Cruises is the first cruise line to eliminate plastic water bottles.

Vero Water is the world’s leading purveyor of premium water distillation systems. They have developed a proprietary purification system which utilizes Nano-Filtration and five separate layers of filters to produce their water.

Oceania Cruises and Vero Water implementation

Vero Water service will be implemented in two phases during this year. Phase One will implement the onboard water service in suites, staterooms, restaurants, lounges and bars beginning in April. The onboard changeover is expected to be completed by mid-June. Phase Two will merge the Vero Water service and guest experience. All guests will be provided with their own re-useable Vero Water bottle which they can keep and take home. Phase Two is expected to start in the second half of 2019.
