Virgin Voyages Unveils Their “Secret” Island Destination
Valentine’s Day marked the moment for Virgin Voyages when it began to take reservations for its first ship, Scarlet Lady. Long-anticipated was the promised reveal of the fledgling cruise line’s “secret” destination. It’s Bimini, Bahamas.
Virgin Voyages announced that every cruise voyage (as Sir Richard calls it) includes a stop at The Beach Club, Virgin Voyages’ plush, private retreat on Bimini Island, Bahamas.
The Beach Club Unveiled
Each of the Scarlet Lady’s itineraries includes an all-day visit to The Beach Club at Bimini, Bahamas. While Bimini is known for its white-sand and crystal clear waters, Virgin Voyages promises that the experience at The Beach Club will rival the best beach clubs in Ibiza and Saint-Tropez.
Just a short transfer from the pier, and built by Resorts World Bimini, The Beach Club at Bimini will feature natural materials and soft earth tones that organically blend into the seascape. The heart of The Beach Club at Bimini will be an expansive lagoon-style pool.
A full day-into-night experience will give Sailors (that’s what Richard Branson calls “cruisers”) a chance for a time of retox and detox. Along with relaxation areas there will also be opportunities to kick it into high gear.
Mornings at The Beach Club at Bimini will begin with yoga and meditation. The energy at The Beach Club at Bimini grows as the day progresses. Then it’s dialed down as dusk settles in. During the day, DJ-led pool and flotilla parties will be center of the action. As the day’s energy winds down, relax by a beach bonfire to close out the evening. Plus, an acoustic musical performance will add to the ambiance.
Music at The Beach Club at Bimini will be curated by DJ Mark Ronson, a Grammy Award-winning artist and producer.

Dining at The Beach Club
Similar to other cruise lines’ private islands, The Beach Club will offer complimentary food with locally-inspired menus. When lunchtime arrives, among the offerings will be conch and mango salad, banana leaf-wrapped queen snapper, Bahamian rum cake and more.
Hammock groves and six bars will give Sailors plenty of space to meet up with groups of friends. For an additional fee there will be beach-side and poolside cabanas available for rent.
Sailors staying in RockStar Suites will have a private dedicated bar, complimentary food service, an outdoor terrace lounge, sun loungers and beach cabanas.
Back onboard Scarlet Lady
When Scarlet Lady sets sail, Sailors will be entertained in typical Branson-style. Virgin Voyages has created The Red Room, the first multi-form theater at sea. The theater will be able to transform into four different configurations. There’ll be a traditional Proscenium stage, an alley stage like in fashion shows, a dance floor and a reverse stage setup.
Scarlet Lady will feature six original shows. Shaking it up even more, there won’t be the traditional cruise director. And Sailors will have the chance to participate in the interactive performance experiences.
Scarlet Lady Itineraries
The 2,770+passenger Scarlet Lady is scheduled to begin cruising from Miami in April 2020. The three different itineraries are:
- Four nights from Miami to Havana with an overnight in Havana
- Five nights from Miami to Costa Maya
- Five nights from Miami to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic
All three itineraries include a full day at The Beach Club at Bimini.
