Hi Annette,
Thank you for your email. I will try to address your questions.
1. If you have a reservation, then the train will stop at the station for you to board. 2. It’s in their computer system.
3. There is no baggage area on board. But you could ask your room attendant if it could be tagged and placed into the baggage car or possibly into a vacant roomette until you reach Chicago. You can then check your luggage in Chicago for your outbound train to CT. 4. Yes, you should be able to bring onboard one carry-on bag and one under-50lb suitcase…but again there is no room in the roomette for that amount of luggage. I suggest that you call AMTRAK at 1-800-USA-RAIL and review your questions to put your mind at ease. Thank you again and I hope you have a wonderful trip.
Sherry

It appears there are no services in DLK AMTRAK station…where we are to embark. The train leaves that station at 3:15 AM so we want to know … 1. Will they stop to pick us up? 2. How do they know we have a reservation? 3. It also appears there is “no checked luggage”, and we have a Roomette (which will not give us room for all our luggage)….can we leave it in a “baggage area” on board. 3. The next station (Chicago, Union Station) allows checked bags, but Amtrak instructions on baggage says it has to be “from the original entry point”.
Please let me know if we will be allowed to bring 2 “carry on” size (1 each) and 1 larger bag under 50 lbs (62 lin inches+/-) in addition to our personal items.
I have tried searching for these answers on all Amtrak sites but it doesn’t appear available. If there is a number I can call to speak to someone please send that. If you want to call me please feel free. 941-321-1693
Thank you,

Hi Marion – so nice to hear from you! I hope all is well. Thank you for the positive feedback about my newsletters. Do you remember Joyce? She was 92 at the time and I always wonder if she is still traveling! Thank you again and keep on traveling as best as you can! Even if it is only an occasional armchair vacation. I do that a lot, too!

I am sure you do not remember me but we met on our paddle wheel cruise down the Columbia River about 5 years ago. I read every column you write and due to age my traveling has been
curtailed a bit. But still do as much as I can. Keep on traveling and keep on writing! Thanks.
