Norwegian Sky Refurbishment Includes New Dining and Starbucks
After a three-week dry dock in the Bahamas, Norwegian Sky returned to Miami fresh from refurbishment. It’s all part of Norwegian’s Norwegian Edge fleet-wide refurbishment program.
From top to bottom, the 20-year old ship has been drastically updated. There are new restaurants and snack spaces, redesigned staterooms, even the pool area on deck 11 was refurbished.
What’s New on the Sky
All food and beverage areas were refreshed plus there are now nine new places to eat or drink.
- The Local Bar & Grill, a pub-style restaurant/bar
- La Cucina Italian restaurant
- Sugarcane Mojito Bar
- Topsiders
- Poolside bar
- Bliss Ultra Lounge
- Spinnaker Lounge
- Full-service Starbucks
- Pinnacle Lounge and Sushi Bar
The Atrium has been revitalized, along with the reception area and shore excursion desk areas. Pool deck enhancements include new flooring, lounge chairs and tables, plus more shaded areas.

“Last year was an exciting year with the record-breaking launch of Norwegian Bliss, the announcement of Norwegian Joy’s redeployment to the U.S. and the unveiling of four ships which benefited from our comprehensive Norwegian Edge® bow-to-stern refurbishment program,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We are continuing the momentum and starting 2019 with the reintroduction of Norwegian Sky. She returned home to Miami unveiling new designs and experiences that showcase our dedication to providing guests with meaningful experiences across our fleet.”
The Norwegian Sky refurbishment also includes the complimentary Palace and Crossings Main Dining Rooms, Garden Café and The Great Outdoors; and specialty restaurants Cagney’s and Le Bistro. All bars and lounges on board were also refreshed.
Norwegian Sky Stateroom upgrades
All 1,002 staterooms were upgraded with new televisions and USB outlets. In addition, there’s brand new carpet, artwork, furniture, lighting and balcony decking. All of the ship’s four 835-square-foot Owner’s Suites have refreshed bathrooms and private hot tubs.
Cruising year-round from PortMiami, Norwegian Sky sets out on three- and four-day Bahamas cruises. If you have a little more time, there are also four- and five-day cruises to the Bahamas and Cuba. The Cuba cruises feature an overnight in Havana. All cruises include a day at Norwegian’s private beach destination at Great Stirrup Cay. Norwegian Sky also offers several all-inclusive cruises throughout the year.
