Skydiving Spectacle: Red Bull Airforce Lands on Utopia of the Seas
The Utopia of the Seas made history by hosting the world’s first skydiving event on a cruise ship. Red Bull Airforce skydivers, Luke Aikins and Miles Daisher, successfully landed on the bow of the new Royal Caribbean vessel.
This daring stunt took place earlier this month while the ship was near Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas.
To celebrate this achievement, a party was held on the ship’s deck during the inaugural festivities, featuring a performance by Grammy-winning artist and the ship’s godmother, Meghan Trainor.
Now operating short cruises from Port Canaveral, the Utopia of the Seas officially began service on July 19, 2024.
For its maiden voyage, the LNG-powered ship offered a three-night cruise, visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau. Built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, this Oasis-class ship was delivered to Royal Caribbean International in mid-June.
The Utopia of the Seas, with a capacity of 5,714 passengers, is now the largest cruise ship offering three- and four-night trips to the Bahamas.
Sailing from Central Florida on Fridays and Mondays, the itineraries include stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau.
In related news, the Allure of the Seas also began offering short cruises to the Bahamas earlier this month. After moving to Miami, the 5,552-guest ship became the second Oasis-class vessel to regularly sail three- and four-night itineraries to this destination.
Other ships in the series, including the Symphony of the Seas, the Harmony of the Seas, and the Wonder of the Seas, offer week-long cruises to the Caribbean. Meanwhile, the Oasis of the Seas sails seven-night itineraries in the Mediterranean. A seventh Oasis-class ship is expected to join the fleet in 2028.
