Mark your calendar. The date for the Nieuw Statendam dedication is February 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Holland America Line is live-streaming this event. Fans can watch as the ship’s godmother, Oprah Winfrey, welcomes Holland America Line’s newest ship to the fleet. Live-streaming is available at HollandAmerica.com/dedication or on their Facebook page.
The private ceremony will take place aboard Nieuw Statendam from the World Stage theater at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Oprah will officially dedicate the ship along with Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald and Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford.
“Interest in the dedication ceremony for Nieuw Statendam from fans and friends around the world has been unprecedented, and through live streaming everyone is invited to be a part of this special event,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “We are deeply honored that Oprah Winfrey will serve as godmother of Nieuw Statendam, and now anyone who wants to watch her dedicate our new ship can be there with us and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment.”
After an overnight in port at Fort Lauderdale following the dedication, Nieuw Statendam heads out the next day for a seven-day Caribbean cruise.

Holland America is giving away a seven-day cruise in a verandah stateroom. The winner can choose a cruise to either the Caribbean or Mexico.
