Seabourn Celebrates Keel Laying for First Expedition Ship

December 4th was an exciting milestone for Seabourn, a global leader in ultra-luxury cruising and the official cruise partner of UNESCO World Heritage. On this day, Seabourn celebrated the keel laying ceremony for the newest member of their five vessel fleet: the 264-passenger Seabourn Venture expedition ship. 

The celebratory event took place at the T. Mariotti shipyard in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy. Set to debut in June 2021, with an unnamed sister ship launching the following year, Seabourn Venture is the cruise line’s latest development in ultra-luxury expedition travel. Their first purpose-built expedition ship will have 132 all veranda, all ocean-front suites.

Equipped with the newest technology and built to PC6 Polar Class standards, the Seaborn Venture and its sister ship will travel to 150 unique locations around the globe, everywhere from the Amazon to Antarctica.

Some of these destinations will include World Heritage sites and more well-known locales, while others will include some of the world’s most remote locations, previously inaccessible by traditional cruise ships.

Seabourn vessels are known for their consistent, award-winning service and intimate atmosphere. Unlike other cruise lines, the Seabourn Venture will feel more like a private club than a cruise ship. Every ocean-front suite has been meticulously designed with the guest in mind. Guests will have access to gourmet cuisine, complimentary premium wine and spirits, and an abundance of cultural and scientific programming.

In addition to personalized and expert-led itineraries handcrafted for individual guests, the Seabourn Venture will offer inclusive expedition experiences ranging from mountain biking and e-bikes to scuba diving and snorkeling. The ship will be equipped with 24 Zodiacs so all passengers can experience the exhilaration of a Zodiac excursion at the same time. All activities are included and there’s an outdoor adventure for everyone’s adrenaline level.

And if that isn’t enough to entice you, the Seabourn Venture will also include two submarines for guest use, custom-designed and built by U-Boat Worx. Pop open a bottle of chilled champagne and relax on the hand-embroidered leather seats as you watch the marine life swim by. From the comfort of these ultra-luxury submarines, you’ll visit places that few have ever seen before.
