American Cruise Lines Adds American Harmony to Columbia River for 2021
American Cruise Lines announced that it now has four ships in the Pacific Northwest ready and waiting to begin Columbia and Snake River cruises in 2021.
American Harmony, one of what the cruise line calls its “Modern Riverboats,” just completed a transit of the Panama Canal from the East Coast to the Pacific Northwest.
American Harmony Columbia River Cruises for 2021
American Harmony, launched in 2019, was the second of the cruise line’s modern riverboats. The riverboat accommodates up to 190 guests and, like its three sister ships, features a five-story glass atrium.
When American Harmony arrived at Astoria, Oregon, it joined sister-ship American Song, plus two American Cruise Lines classic reproduction paddlewheelers, American Pride and Queen of the West. All four riverboats will remain in historic Astoria while completing their final preparations for the 2021 season.

A cruise on the Columbia River and a jet boat ride on the Snake River takes you through parts of the U.S. that can’t be viewed from a driving tour. Places visited on the Columbia River still have their small town charm. The desolate and deep Snake River teems with wildlife, steep cliffs and swirling white water pools.
American Harmony cruises on the Columbia and Snake Rivers begin near the mouth of the Pacific Ocean in Astoria, Oregon. From there, the cruise heads to the Snake River and the deepest canyon in America. Cruises for 2021 include new active shore excursions and complimentary onboard events, from wine tastings to evening entertainment with a local flair.
For 2021, you can choose from four river ships on the Columbia and Snake rivers, with itineraries from five- to 11-days.
Health and Safety Protocols for American Cruise Line
This year, as American Cruise Lines plans its return to cruising, they will implement new and stringent health and safety regulations.
American Cruise Lines requires a negative COVID-19 test result for all guests and crew members boarding its ships. Guests must test on their own prior to traveling to the ship. A certified Medical Officer will be aboard each ship to conduct a brief pre-boarding health screening. In addition, masks must be worn during the cruise in compliance with the Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel.
Guests are strongly encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine prior to travel. Even if you’ve had a vaccine, you still must comply with all the requirements of the American Cruise Lines Operating Protocol. This includes getting a PCR/molecular COVID-19 test with negative results and wearing a mask.
More Modern Riverboats to the Mississippi River
American Cruise Lines will soon have two more new modern riverboats to cruise the Mississippi River. American Jazz, Queen of the Mississippi, and America will be joined by the newest modern riverboat, American Melody this summer.
